Ingrid's Wedding Quilt

This quilt wasn't for Ingrid, it was for her daughter (or maybe son--its been so long, I can't remember). Each block in this quilt is a specially made napkin from the wedding. They had so many, Ingrid decided to use a few and surprise them with a quilt.

These napkins were all made individually. The napkins just needed a little texture to tie them all together. I used a soft purple thread and modified my heatwave pattern to include some feathers.

I also added a special touch for the bride and groom--their names are quilted into the quilt. I love to do that on wedding quilts and kids' quilts. If you click on the pic below to enlarge it, you can actually see what I did.

Margaret's Tranquil Quilt

I just love the colors in Margaret's quilt. These blues and greens together are just beautiful.

Here are a couple of close-ups. I did my go-to allover on this one as all it needed was some lovely texture.

Alaskan Puffin Quilt

Lyn sent this quilt up. Its the last of her Alaskan fabrics and has the cutest puffins on it.

She let me play with her quilt, so that's what I did! The border had some fun geometric designs in it with my "heatwave" pattern in the dark blue sashing.

The body of the quilt has feathers in the setting triangles, spiral linework in the corners and the dark, pieced squares, and more linework in the light colored squares.

And, finally, here's a shot of the back. You may have to click on this one and enlarge it to actually see the quilting.
Happy Quilting!

Carolyn's Mini Victory Quilt

I love this quilt. Carolyn does such beautiful work. I mailed it back to her, as I've done many times before, but this time someone stole the quilt from her mailbox. I couldn't believe it when Carolyn said she hadn't received it. My records showed it delivered--but that's as far as it got. From now on, all quilters with mailboxes will have their quilts delivered requiring a signature. This world makes me really sad sometimes.

This was such a fun quilt to work on. I used lots of gold thread to highlight the gold in the fabrics and then some black so that the gold wouldn't be overwhelming.

I'm including pictures of lots of the blocks. I did lots of little, tiny feathers, linework, and cc's in this one. Hope you have a cup of coffee in hand!

And a couple more of the back.  I love how it looks on the back almost more than the top!

Leslie's "Window" Quilts

Ever wonder what to do with those panels you love? Leslie had some pretty good ideas.  This first one is called the Redwood Express.

I just love the idea of making it look like a window--I see some of these in my future!

I didn't want to detract from the panel, so rather than any intricate quilting, I just did diagonal lines across the "panes."

Of course, I had to add a little detail in the borders...

This next one is called Southwest Desert View. I love the colors, but then its mostly orange and I LOVE orange!

As you can see, the "panes" got the same treatment, but I played in that outside border with gold thread. I did some quilting to mimic the diamond patterns.
