Leslie's Attic Window/Winter View

Isn't this great???  Leslie has been on a panel roll lately and I'm loving how they're all looking. Makes me want to get out the zillions of panels I have and do something creative with them.

The fabrics she chose for the borders are just perfect--its almost like you really are looking through a window.  I just love this! Here are a couple close-ups of the "windows." As you can see, the quilting is super simple. I don't want to take away from the view!

Diamonds with loops in the middle for the first border.

And a squiggly triangle design, ala Angela Walters, in the outer border.

I have got to find my panels! Maybe I'll find them and just send them to Leslie!!

Charlene's Kaffe Circles

Charlene is a new customer that I've just met. She gave me two beautiful quilts to work on--this was the first one. I love the simplicity of this design!

I wanted those circles to pop and the background to recede, so it was lots of lines in the white and little "flowers" in the circles.

I finished off the border with Piano Keys to balance the lines in the background. I also did little flowers in corners of the sashing and border to carry that design to the outside as well.

I even managed a couple of good shots of the back...

This one shows the wishbone sashing and Piano Key border.

Wait til you see her next one. Her quilts are just fresh and lovely!

Sheila's Orange Quilt

Sheila surprised me with this quilt at guild the other day. It always surprises me when people walk up and just hand over their quilts for me to work on. I guess I've never gotten over the trust they put in me--I hope I never do!

I had those large on-point squares that I could really play in, but I wasn't able to do that this time. Instead I did a simple line-work and CC design to fill the space.

I modified the design a bit to fit the setting triangles.

The border fabric was quite busy, but still needed something. The design I chose is a wavy, pointed Angela Walters design. It filled the space and added some texture. You can almost "see" it in the next two pics.

This is a shot of the back showing the texture.

And another shot of the back that sort of shows the overall design

Thanks for looking!

Penny's Churn Dash

Penny sent this quilt along for some quilting and I fell in love with it. I love the Churn Dash block, so it was a fun one for me to quilt.

Unfortunately, the pic above really doesn't do it justice. the actual churn dash blocks are whiter than they appear in the photo...not this ugly yellowish color. The pic below is a more accurate representation of the color. If you click on it to make it bigger, you can see that I did a "four-part" feather motif in the on-point squares, a freehand crosshatch in the blue squares, and ribbon candy with cc's in the churn dash along with a flower in the centers.

Below is a shot of the back. I love when the quilting shows up!!

Thanks for taking the time to look!

Margie's Quilts

Margie is a member of the Cabin Fever Guild in Port Townsend. She usually sits right across from me and surprised me by asking whether I could do these three quilts for her. Of course, I said yes.  These two were identical and she wanted them quilted the same. Both of these quilts were made from ties that belonged to her husband. The quilts were for his kids, if I'm remembering correctly.

I really love how she put these together; they're so different from the usual tie quilts.

Here are a close-up of each:

I did my usual Heatwave fill on both as she wanted them back quickly. Deciding on a thread color was challenging. It was certainly going to show up somewhere, especially since I really don't like to use monofilament. Luckily, I've gotten pretty good at this design.

This was the third quilt she gave me. Its pieced a bit differently and I really didn't want to do an allover on it. Margie gave me permission to play...so I did!

I played with feathers and continuous curve and lost myself in the quilting. I love putting feathers on quilts in more unique patterns.

Here's a couple shots of the back of this one.  The border of this quilt was more of the ties, btw.

I have no idea why this second photo is gray--the background was more taupe like above. However, the quilting shows nicely in this one, so I wanted to post it.

Thanks for looking!
