Meet Ophelia

 This is Ophelia...isn't she adorable???

She came to me from Ramona in Quincy. It was a rough trip, as she wasn't quite "all there" when she arrived. However, with a little stitching here and there, she went home in one piece.

With these quilts, its all about the background quilting...below are more pics of just that!

She was a fun to quilt!

Wendy's Port Gamble Mystery Quilt

Port Gamble is an old, historic little town not to far away from here. Their shop, Quilted Straight, used to be in Port Angeles, but moved into the cutest carriage house in Port Gamble several years ago. Shortly after Covid started and all the shops were shut, the owner renewed this mystery project and charged only $25 to participate. The funds she collected went to a local charity to help feed people. Wendy participated, and this is the quilt she made.

I loved how her quilt turned out and I loved all the fun places to create quilting designs. Below are a few pics with feathers, swirls, hooked curves, "l"s, and linework...

In the center, I did a bit more "playing" with designs...

Thanks for looking!

Nancy's Covid Leaves

Nancy has been a busy woman during this stay-at-home Covid stuff. To keep from going bonkers, she's been making ceramic tiled mirrors, embroidering, and yes, quilting. This is her latest applique project--leaves. She said she got started and just didn't know when to stop!

Its a colorful and HUGE quilt. I knew that I would be doing a lot of intensive quilting in the brown areas, so the borders got some simple line work. In the outer brown area I did a combo of leaves, paisley's, and pebbles surrounding the leaves and filling in the background.

As you can see, I filled the inner square with pebbles...lots and lots of pebbles!

And here's a couple shots of the back...just because.

Sally's Quilt for her Granddaughter

Sally is a new customer who trusted me with her granddaughter Kate's quilt. I love how bright and cheery this one is.

In the 20-patch blocks, I did some simple cc's, then in the white blocks I did one of my favorite flowers surrounded by wishbones. This pic also shows the ribbon candy in the sashing.

The borders had some fine linework with doodles in the flowers.

And although I neglected to get a close up...several of the flowers as well as a couple places in that gold sashing have Kate's name quilted into the design.

Thanks for looking!

Anna's Beautiful Folk Art Quilt

This quilt is just stunning! Anna does such beautiful work; I love that she trusts me with her quilts. Have a look:

Her applique is always gorgeous and this quilt really emphasized that.  Working from the center out, I did a tighter stipple after echoing the center flower. I really wanted the applique to "puff" up a bit and this technique works well for that.

Then pebbles around the inner circle along with more echoing and some CC's in the diamonds.

And from the back, it looked like this:

Below are some more eye candy photos of Anna's quilt...have a look:

Along with a couple more of the back...

Don't you agree? Isn't Anna's quilt gorgeous????

Leslie's Floral Flight

This quilt is called Floral Fancy. Leslie always sends me the prettiest projects to work on and she is very, very picky. Her explicit instructions are always the same..."Do what you want." I love it. Freedom to play!

I really enjoyed this quilt. The piecing made it easy to play in the borders and with the individual pics, I mostly quilted around the birds and flowers to make them stand out. Border quilting included CC's, Ribbon Candy, and some general loops and linework.

Below is a close up of one of the bird blocks. I think if you click on this to make it larger, the outlined bits will show up better.

And here are a couple shots of the back...I love this backing fabric. Its perfect!
