Linda's Whirly Jig

I love doing quilts for Linda. I don't often get the chance to--Linda has her own longarm. This time her longarm was otherwise occupied, so I got to play. I love how this quilt is traditional and modern at the same time.

When I quilted this one, I gave Linda several design choices. She opted for more modern quilting. Below are pics of the individual designs in the blocks.

And then when you put them together, you get this...

The borders were fun too. I love this treatment where part of the border stands out.

And what post is complete without shots of the back??

If you've seen my business cards, you've probably noticed the quote that says "Always smoke free; mostly pet free." This is the reason for the "mostly" part. Dash had to be in the pic--he knows Linda is one of his biggest fans!

Thanks for looking!!

A Real Snow Storm - Sequim Style

We got a real snow storm the other day. I say real, because on occasion, you'll look out and we'll have five minutes of those beautiful white, puffy flakes. Then it stops.  This time though, well look:

I need to learn how to use photoshop so I can do something about the dog derriere in the picture, but isn't it beautiful? (The snow, not the dog butt!) I just love the snow here because, as my Quincy friends say, "You can shovel that with a spatula!" And its true...if I wanted to shovel--which I don't!

The boys thought it was great too.  A little too bright for Dash who could barely keep his eyes open.

And Cash (a.k.a. Moose), whose intent focus is on Dash. Cash has the most herding instinct of any of our Border Collie I've ever owned. Whenever they're outside, Moose herds Dash--or tries to.

And finally, a picture of both boys in my studio.  Used to be that Dash was the only one that wanted to come in. Now they both do, but they're on their rug and being adorable. How can I resist??

"Always Smoke Free, Mostly Pet Free"

That's what it says at the bottom of my business card.  And this is why...

When we rescued Dash, he decided I was his person. Initially, even Dennis wasn't enough for him. Now, however, Dennis is good and so are our neighbors and good friends, Don and Annie. That means, we can actually go somewhere and leave the dogs with them rather than always having them in the car. What freedom...we can do overnight things again!

Dash is pretty good about staying on the rug...pretty good. I don't have the heart to make him stay out of the studio or shut the door, so he's my "mostly pet free."
