2017 Race for Hospice Quilt

Every year, the Sequim Bay Yacht Club does a fund raiser for hospice. Part of the fund raiser is a quilt that is raffled. I am given the honor of quilting these quilts. This is the latest one:

Although I think this quilt found its way to a grandchild, I still wanted to cover it with quilting. Below are some closeups showing the quilting around the various critters, as well as those corner blocks.

Here are a few pics of the back. You can see that I mostly outlined the animals, with minimal stitching in them. Then I tried to work with the design in the special patterned fabrics with the whales. The linework behind the animals was my attempt to make them poof out a bit, then the ribbon candy to frame them.

I just love the shots of the back of this one!

Dragonfly (not in amber) Quilt

This is Nancy's Dragonfly quilt. (Did you catch that Outlander reference??)  Anyway, this is one of those quilts where I wanted to smack myself when I was finished.  But first, here's a pic of the quilt as a whole.

Lots of linework in this one to frame those flowered blocks. The color of the quilt is not yellow; I have no idea why the photo is!

And here is where I could have done so much better.  Nancy wanted a dragonfly on the quilt in one of the purple squares. I could have had Dennis embroider a beautiful one before I started quilting. Did I think of that??? No, of course not. Instead, she got this one. (I'm still kicking myself!)
Here's a shot of the back...

Thanks for taking the time to look!!

Bed Quilt in Blues

Mary Jo and her husband brought this quilt over. I know Mary Jo from the Port Townsend guild, Cabin Fever Quilters, but this was the first time I'd met her husband. I love having people to the house to drop off their quilts. It gives me a chance to get to know them better and sometimes, I even get to meet the husband!

In fact, Mary Jo and her husband collaborated on this one. If I remember correctly, he helped with the color choices. I really love the color on this one and I so wanted to play. However, Mary Jo asked for an allover, so that's what I did.  Have a look:
Yep, another big one that didn't fit when I hung it for a pic.

A couple close-ups below. I did my heatwave pattern on most of the quilt, but I added a bit of linework to the inner border along with some loops in the outer sashing just to spice things up.

Here's a couple shots of the backing to show the pattern of the linework in that outer border.

Hope you're enjoying the more frequent posts!

A Lemon Quilt

This unique quilt belongs to a new customer of mine, Diane. If this one is any indication of her piecing and color choices, I hope she comes back with more. I really liked this one.

A couple close-ups to make the quilting easier to see. I tried to add a little design element into the white diagonal frames.

And a closer close-up. Linework and pebbles, oh my!

Because Diane gave me an almost solid fabric for the back, here's a pic of it as well.
Wow, two posts in a row...I'm on a roll.

Really Big Applique Quilt

Attempting, once again, to get caught up.  I'm hoping I don't repeat myself and show you a quilt for a second time; however, since I've been posting so infrequently, I doubt you'll remember anyway!!

This is Anna's big, beautiful applique quilt. Its so big, it won't even fit on my hanging bar! In fact, in the future there will be a hanging bar in my living room. The ceilings are much higher, so my quilt pics will (hopefully) look better.

Let's start in the middle.  I love the tree and really wanted it to stand out, so I did a little quilt framing (is that even a thing??) Here are a couple close-ups.
And closer yet...
Moving outward to one of the main blocks...feathers and CC in those blocks.

And this is one of the cute little bird appliques

And finally, the border. Or, better known as where I got my "quilt framing" idea for the center tree.

Thanks for having a look!!!!!
